Drupal in Ireland - Project 2
As part of our series of showcasing what Drupal is doing in Ireland, we are happy to bring you another awesome online experience that Drupal has created.
Project 2 - Postcards Ireland
Drupal has allowed us to showcase what matters to our clients since our foundation in 2009. As a small development agency, BT48 uses Drupal as it gives us the ability to deliver more complex projects more efficiently for our clients. Most of our clients don’t care about the CMS that powers their site, they care about the experience it delivers for their customers, while we care about meeting those expectations.
Drupal was a natural fit for the Postcards Ireland project. The Linen Hall Library had a collection of historic postcards that users couldn’t access. They needed a system that would allow anyone from around the world to find a historic postcard depicting daily life in towns and cities across Ireland since the late 1880s.
Drupal’s flexibility allowed us to tie up a Commerce front end with a third party delivery company to print and deliver the personalised cards throughout the world. The flexible nature of Drupal proved to be of paramount importance when that supplier gave us a week’s notice of terminating their API four months after launch. We were able to seamlessly plug in another supplier without any disruption to the user experience. This project has reinforced for us the importance of the flexibility afforded by Drupal.
