A hundred thousand welcomes from Drupal Ireland
Drupal Ireland offers you a “céad míle fáilte” - a “hundred thousand welcomes”!
Come join us for DrupalCon in Dublin which promises to be a fantastic event, held right in the heart of Dublin city.
Dublin is a vibrant, growing city, with a strong cultural and literary heritage. It offers many free museums, parks and other visitor attractions. It’s known for its music and great pubs, and during the week you can actually smell the barley being roasted for the Guinness!
DrupalCon will take place in the centrally located World Class Convention Centre, a short walk or cycle from the city centre. Dublin’s main attraction famously is its people and there will be plenty of opportunities to mix with the locals during the cracking social events planned after the main business of the day is done.
We’re particularly proud to be welcoming you to Ireland, in this, our centenary year. In 2016, there are a multitude of events all around the country commemorating the Easter Rising of 1916.
Dublin is a multicultural city as is the Irish Drupal community. As an example, our Drupal committee comprises people from Germany, Ireland, the UK and Spain.
The well known motto “Come For The Software, Stay For The Community” couldn't be more true in a country like Ireland.
The Irish Drupal community organizes a number of events throughout the year, including two DrupalCamps. It has become a tradition that one of them is held in Dublin and called “Drupal Open Days” in an attempt to attract newcomers to our beloved platform. The other camp travels through the country with the last two occasions taking place in the locations of Belfast and Portumna in Galway.
Meetups have been held in Dublin, Belfast, Galway and Cork on a monthly basis where we share our Drupal concerns or questions (and most of the time, answers).
The Irish are well known for their storytelling skills and that can be clearly appreciated at the local pub where we continue our conversations in front of a couple of pints (again with traditional porter happily living alongside more recent craft beers produced in local breweries all over the country). It is not uncommon to see laptops being opened again at the pub.
In 2013, we were delighted to play host to Drupal Dev Days in Dublin, where we had a full week of sprints and over 200 attendees, some coming from as far as Spain, Germany and the US.
The Drupal community in Ireland is really looking forward to being as good as an Irish “céad míle fáilte” host as can be expected. We are especially looking forward to hosting the Trivia Night with the community who has brought you every Drupal Trivia Night since DrupalCon Chicago!
Come to Dublin and let us show you our beloved city.
