The Anatomy of Drupal 8 modules for non-coders

tedbow

Have you ever found a new Drupal module but felt lost trying to figure out what it was doing because you aren't a coder? If so this session is for you!

We will look at the anatomy of Drupal 8 modules from the perspective of a non-coder.  This session will let you peer into the black box which is a Drupal module.

After this session you will be able to download a new module and figure out if it:

  • Creates new field types, widgets or formatters
  • Defines new permissions
  • Creates new configuration forms and how to find them
  • Alters any existing forms
  • Installs any default configuration
  • Provides new Block types
  • Adds to new site pages
  • Alters existing pages provided by core or other modules
  • and more!

These skills can help you evaluate new modules especially if the module is not documented well. We will also introduce some warning signs that might point to problems with the health of a module.

Audience:

To get the most of out of this session you should have some experience building Drupal sites. You do not need any coding experience.
