This talk is about the importance of attracting new people to the industry, and our personal experiences of working as new developers in the industry.

As part of the talk we aim to cover the following subjects/topics:

  • Attracting new people to drupal and the web industry.
    • Giving back to the community
    • Benefits that young people bring to drupal
  • Why mentoring is important, and how it benefits business by facilitating the ability to bring new people in
    • How new people are not a strain to the business and the benefits they bring
    • How quickly they can produce billable work
  • Experiences beginners will gain in the industry that is hard to gain elsewhere
    • Building client relations
    • Gaining more responsibility
    • Learning to take ownership of their work and careers
    • Version control
    • Working within a team
  • The knowledge gap that you have as a college/school leaver VS what you need to work in the industry/how to gain this knowledge
  • How the Drupal Community is affected by new people and vice versa.

By the end of this talk we hope to inspire people to get new people in the industry and maybe hiring people with less experience in the industry and to invest into the future of the Industry.

No previous experience is required for this talk.
