Collaborative Workflows for Drupal 8

xaviemirmon

Working in a team versus working on your own poses multiple problems during development. When you have more than one person working on a project it's becomes quite easy with the power and flexibility of Drupal for a site to become inconsistent and bloated. With the new tools available to us in Drupal 8, namely the Configuration Management Interface (CMI), it can become confusing and difficult for teams to figure where and when to begin the transition for 7 to 8.

This session will cover tried and tested workflows for Drupal 8 throughout the various parts of development allowing for more seamless, collaborative and reliable development.

The following stages of development will be covered:

  • Planning
  • Development
  • Deployment
  • Support

We will investigate common problems throughout the different stages correlating to previous Drupal 7 development and solutions to these problems that we've implemented within our team. I will show you how our team has transitioned to using GitFlow alongside the new config system to collaborate with each other and deploy code.

Based upon several years of working with different teams of Drupal developers, I will show you techniques to create consistent and well built sites based upon my own successes and failures, so that your team can get up and running with the very best of what Drupal 8 has to offer.

Prior to this session, we recommend that you have a basic understanding of version control, development, and deployment in Drupal 7.  At the end of this session, we will all be Drupal 8 workflow masters and you will be able to take tried and tested techniques to your team to get developing on Drupal 8 straightaway!
