Custom components using Paragraphs and Display Suite

Overview

For a long time content editors were used to play with a multitude of WYSIWYG editors, doing everything in a longtext field (body) and mixing contents with markup. This maybe worked for some scenarios but in most of the cases it resulted in an annoying editing experience, causing bad feelings about Drupal.

In this talk I'll present a different approach for structuring content types in Drupal, with the help of Paragraphs and Display Suite I'll demonstrate how we as Drupal developers can provide a better content editing experience and at same time have a more flexible solution for rendering complex and customized content structures (e.g. slideshow, calendar, contacts) in the page.

Attendee skill level

This session requires basic site building and some knowledge on Drupal Hooks.

Learning expectations

On the end of the session the attendees will understand better the common problems that most of the content editors face everyday and will be aware on a different approach, based on the concept of components.
