Drupal as a Digital Hub and the Rise of CaaS: headless by another name?

ikos

Whilst the Drupal community talks headless the market is starting to talk CaaS (Content as a Service).

This session looks at how Drupal can be used to offer brands Content as a Service by positioning it as the Digital Hub of the enterprise.

The primary concept of CaaS: means content is created and managed independently of the place it will be consumed.  This becomes important when considering the internet of things or more traditional end point such as websites, mobile apps and kiosks. Over time, this could mean everything from your Smart TV or Apple Watch to your fridge or your car dashboard.

The conversations about Headless Drupal so far have often been focused on removing the front end dependency to allow more complex user experiences to be built using javascript frameworks. However this is only one possibility as we will discover.

Topics covered in this session:

  • What is Content as a Service?
  • Headless vs Decoupled Drupal
  • Planning for the unknown consumer
  • When headless doesn’t make sense
  • How Drupal supports Content as a Service
  • Building a strategy around content first
