Forever in my shadow!

alickmighall

If you own an agency that floats between 5-15 people you probably find you’re always running with your needle in the red. You know a strong culture is important, and you kind of have one, but it can be hard for client work, or for you, not to get in the way of permeating it. There's so much to do. So much stress. And being at the top of your org can be lonely...

The challenge is, that whether you like it or not, as a leader, you cast a shadow into which your team fall. So, how do you recognise this and what can you do to make sure it a positive one?

In this presentation I'll share 10 honest, open truths, reflections, tips and techniques. They might be helpful. And we can share ideas too. I'll also illustrate where working in open source has helped miggle keep 'people focussed'.

miggle was set up by Alick in 2007. No longer wanting to commute to London, he decided to set up on his own in Brighton so that he could focus on being around for the kids he and his partner were just about to deploy. The strategy really wasn't much more than that...

He's always felt as if he might explode and that the shockwaves would disintegrate the agency in a day. And who knows, maybe today will be that day, and what a show that will be! But if it's not it might be down to some of the things he's learnt and been taught along the way that he'd love to share with you.
