It's possible to throw together a Drupal team in a couple weeks or build out a Drupal website in an afternoon. However, taking the time to craft that website more carefully and select and train your team will be worth it in the long run. In this session, we'll discuss factors that affect the long term sustainability of a Drupal website and Drupal teams. We'll also discuss different approaches to Drupal development and their results in the long term. And finally, we'll cover how community involvement and investment is important part of using Drupal.

We'll cover the following topics:

  • Making good decisions in a Drupal project life-cycle, to ensure that long-term goals are met
  • Planning for "quality" factors: loading time, user experience, accessibility, interoperability, training for admin staff
  • The internal development and management processes needed to reduce project risk and avoid burnout
  • Development and education required to onboard and nurture successful teams
  • The importance of various types of community involvement to maintain good relationships and harness the power of the Drupal ecosystem

This session is aimed at team leads and product owners who are new to Drupal and looking for advice about how to implement successful Drupal projects.
