People matter - creating sense of well-being while leading distributed teams

am_Sreenivasan

When people matter most, how do  leaders adapt to overcome barriers and lead effectively from a distance? What are the human practices (or approach) when people who matter to you most for achieving high-priority business goals are working from across space, time zones, and often cultural boundaries? As virtual teams become more and more a reality, for growing numbers of people and organizations like ours - leading them effectively is also critical. This session will address distributed development teams and their leaders looking forward to leading from the distance more effectively.

We will cover the reasons of having distributed teams, the benefits, and liabilities of such teams. We will discuss how leaders can overcome the inherent issues and liabilities of lack of direct contact among team members and managers.

Key Takeaways

Without team skills and effective leadership, a virtual team can become ineffectual and dysfunctional. After engaging in this session, you’ll walk away with dependable answers to questions like:

  • How to keep all team members in close communication?
  • How to create a collaborative mindset?
  • How to clarify the team's purpose and align everyone to a common goal?
  • How to establish clear performance standards and what metrics can help?
  • What coaching and talent management strategies need to be adopted in distributed teams?
  • Again people matter and they need to be rewarded. How would you celebrate milestones and successes with your remote team members and create a sense of well-being?
