The Perfect On-Boarding

ikos

At some point everyone has to take on a site that someone else built. There are a number of scenarios that lead this to happen: a failed project, a change of relationship between and agency and client or simply a move to a Business as Usual business model.

We take these sites on expecting a well documented Drupal standards compliant site build.. but of course that rarely happens.

In this session I'll walk you through the process we use to on-board new sites and help you to gather the information you need to make the project a success.  In particular the process helps to uncover the key questions you need to ask those responsible for the site before you take it over. If you have this opportunity at all, it's usually a very small window.

Topics Covered in this Session

  • What to ask for from the client before you get started.

  • Quickly setting up a review environment

  • Using and extending the Site Audit module

  • What to look for in Custom code

  • What to look for in Site building technique

  • What to deliver to the client

  • Techniques for the unknown unknowns

At the end of this session you should be equipped to build your own site audit checklist and make the process of adopting Drupal sites much less risky.
