Publishing from IoT devices

conorc

Wearables, There-ables and the Internet of Things can be used to publish data to an installation of Drupal 8.

This presentation looks at a project developed to respond to a particular challenge. The physical prototype is built with inexpensive off-the-shelf components, without the need for any tools. Free third party services are used to relay the data. And most of the website is built with just Drupal Core. No coding under the hood is required. Additional contributed modules are used to help visualise the data.

From inception to completion of the prototype, the Drupal community has helped in several ways:

  • a timely presentation by Amber Himes Matz at the last DrupalCon
  • a very helpful Q&A session at the most recent DrupalCamp here in Ireland
  • detailed online documentation
  • individual blog posts
  • and of course Drupal 8 itself :-)

Attendees with only a basic knowledge of Drupal will be well able to follow this presentation. Slides will be posted containing step by step instructions on how everyone can try their hand at publishing data from the simple push of a physical button.
