Scout.org - A Drupal powered platform for The World Organization of the Scout Movement
In the past few years, Drupal has been established as the preferred CMS for nonprofits and voluntary sectors, which specifically benefit from its proven advantages; it’s low-cost, flexible, scalable, modular, and secure.
Scout.org is the World Organisation of the Scout Movement’s online platform built on Drupal, supporting their 40 million members and hundreds of affiliate groups. This platform requires continuous development of dynamic new features and engagement-driven site enhancements for keeping their members engaged all year round.
They also organize some very large events like Jamboree, Jota-Joti & various conferences, often requiring unique site functionalities or dedicated sub sites for organisers, volunteers and participants for registrations, announcements, campaigns and other online engagement activities related to these events.
This session will examine how Drupal’s flexible and scalable architecture along with its extensive community contrib ecosystem has helped WSOM achieve their online platform goals and objectives, by enabling rapid enhancements and new feature developments on Scout.org.
WSOM has partnered with Axelerant for driving their Digital programs via value driven consultative engagement, backed by dedicated scrum team consisting of product owners, scrum masters, account managers and Drupal engineers.
During this session, I will cover some of the following areas :
- Why Drupal was Chosen for Scout.org?
- Describe the project (goals, requirements and outcome)
- Scout.org’s Solution Architecture
- Ongoing enhancement and maintenance engagement model
- Value focused functional development
- Contribution to Drupal ecosystem
About the Speaker
I have been coding since 1998 and managing people since 2000. Primary work focus has been the business practice around Drupal Stack, including but not limited to practice development, delivery excellence, solution consulting, sales and business development, and nurturing and growing existing accounts of Axelerant’s partners & clients.
I love contributing to the Drupal ecosystem ( non code most of the time ) by evangelizing, organizing, speaking and supporting various events like Drupalcons, Camps, Meetups etc. Having started my first such involvement by participating in Drupal.org Redesign Initiative of 2010 via testing activities.
I live in Jaipur, India with my family. I’ve been known to escape from work by watching movies ( preferably WWII genre ), networking & participating in local entrepreneurial groups & startup forums as well as catching up with friends.
