Development tools and culture for humans

eddie_c

We often talk excitedly about new whizz-bang dev tools and deployment processes as though getting your team to use them will be easy. However, even with the most appropriate technology, it is easy to overlook that a cultural shift is often required too.

In this talk you'll learn not only how to implement some essential tools in your team's development workflow, but also how to encourage the most effective working culture around them. We'll look at version control best practice using git-flow, encouraging great code review discipline and testing and deployment routines within a team.

The talk will draw on the experiences of a Drupal team that's grown and evolved from small projects to large-scale enterprise level builds over several years and adopted appropriate working practices as it's done so.

The session will assume you have some prior basic knowledge of git, testing and continuous integration but no in depth knowledge is required.
