The good, the bad and the ugly: if I only had known this before starting a company

Update: due to the sensitive nature of the content of this presentation I decided to retire it, but I can not delete the node. Although I personally believe this is of great interest it may offend some attendees as they may relate to some of the experiences I will talk about. I can not say that any similarity to real events is pure coincidence.

A checklist of lifesaving advice.

Everyone can tell you what you should do to start a business, but that stuff is everywhere. What nobody tells you is what you must not do when starting a business. This is what I would tell you, based on my experience with four companies and the people involved. It is easy to give advice on good practices; it is far more difficult to give advice on bad practices. It is even more difficul to follow this advice, but that is an exercise for the viewer.

I will talk on the following topics:

  • How to choose partners
  • Money and time
  • Reasons to become an enterpreneur
  • Value of technical versus marketing versus administration

This talk will be full of personal opinions that may not coincide with the ones of the viewer. They may be offensive as well. But they will surelly be useful.
