How can employers support Drupal contribution?
As an open source project, Drupal has thousands of contributors working on core and contributed modules. We are also one of the most active communities engaged in mentoring new contributors, organizing small and large events and contribution sprints.
Most of us contribute to Drupal as volunteers. We have daytime jobs supporting us, our families and paying our bills. It can be hard to find free time outside of our workplace to contribute to Drupal.
In this session we will cover the following topics:
-
What does contribution look like in the Drupal community?
-
What are the advantages and disadvantages of working for enterprise, government, consulting and higher education organizations while contributing to Drupal?
-
What are the benefits of contribution?
- How are our jobs related to contribution?
We invite you to have a conversation about:
-
How contribution translates to or enables obtaining employment
-
How can we make employers aware of the value of the contribution
-
How employers support contribution to Drupal right now
-
What other means of supporting contribution can happen at our workplaces
