Integrating Drupal into open source, enterprise intranets, groupware & file-sharing

hcderaad

How do you integrate an extensive architecture of ICT systems to make a secure intranet? Enterprises (and large SME's) usually need a unified platform for their employees to communicate, collaborate, and publish information. These systems need to be tied together by some level of identity management to facilitate single sign-on, centralized role-based access control, and similar.

Nowadays there are quite a few commercial and open source file hosting and collaboration services, but how secure are they? Your data is only as secure (and private) as the location where you store it allows it to be.

In this workshop we’ll map out the components of our own intranet server(s) and look into ways to connect the various components into our groupware and webmail environment to enable maximum functionality and optimal security.

[takeaways] In this talk, the audience will learn:

  • How well can you trust your server or the platform it is running on? What about server-side encryption?

  • How to enable your companies' information and social heart by using open source tools

  • How to plan your infrastructure and make sure you create failover protection.
