Mind the Gap: From Content Strategy to Site Architecture with Drupal 8
Drupal as a content management framework is a great collaborative environment for Content Strategists and Site Architects. Site Architects realize the vision of Content Strategists, while Content Strategists are empowered to come up with more innovative solutions based the possibilities offered by Site Architects. Or so the story goes…
Unfortunately, reality is not quite as rosy. Often, there is simply no opportunity for collaboration, with each role working in an isolated silo. When there is a chance for collaboration it can be hindered because of the lack of a common conceptual framework and vocabulary through which to exchange ideas and describe requirements.
In this session we aim to address this very problem. After attending this session Content Strategists will better understand what is possible in Drupal 8 and how Drupal Architects think. Similarly, Drupal Architects will know more about what Content Strategists are trying to achieve and how they can better help them.
We will map Content Strategy concepts to the Drupal 8 Way(™) through practical examples dealing with:
-
How to approach content structure and best practices for using fields in Drupal 8 as well as an overarching framework for guiding decisions
-
How the improved editing capabilities of Drupal 8 can contribute to making content more future-proof
-
How different information architecture objectives can be handled in D8 through menus and taxonomies
-
How Drupal 8 makes it easy to deliver content through different channels and mediums
-
Providing better feedback to content strategists through analytics that incorporate content structure information
You should attend this session if you are a Drupal Site Architect or Site Builder or a Content Strategist and want to learn how to better work together and see what exciting new capabilities Drupal 8 brings.
