Re-designing the multi-lingual Information Architecture of oxfam.org (case study): what we learned

Caisha

oxfam.org is the multi-lingual website of Oxfam International. The site has the dual role of communicating Oxfam's global work and directing end-users to other Oxfams on the web. In 2013/2014 the digital team overhauled the site to re-align with our new brand identity. In the process the team decided to re-design the IA to be more user-centred. This session will look at the process of re-designing an IA in a user centred way, through sorting, user testing and implementation. It will touch on the difficulties we found in trying to design a multi-lingual IA, dealing with internal stakeholders, managing migration/redirects and what we have discovered since.
