Scalable Drupal site factory for sensitive data
We at BRAINSUM have built a comprehensive HR online leave management portal platform. AON, a global leading insurance broker company and its blue chip clients from the finance and IT industries have already onboarded the new web application factory which has been entirely built on Drupal. The system meets the top level security standards of the finance industry in Switzerland.
AON uses the first version of the platform specific to their own infrastructure, but we are already building the next generation for another Drupal based solution targeted to small and medium businesses.
The challenges are:
- support multiple infrastructure providers.
- global scalability
- performance
- resource consumption in a single tenant architecture
In this session I will compare our experiences with some platforms and approaches such as Hyper-V from different providers, digitalocean.com or building our own cloud on rented hardware.
Also I will show the deployment tools and process we use for maintaining the instances.
The technics described are not "The Best Practices", they serve our specific needs but I hope that many developers working on startups or SaaS solutions will find them useful.
