Program Committee
Shape DrupalCon’s exciting lineup of community-driven, educational sessions by serving on the Program Committee! We’re looking for approximately 20 chairs (two for each track), at least 20 session team members (two or more for each track), and at least 10 speaker team members to help make DrupalCon Minneapolis programming the best it can be.
Review the requirements and roles below before filling out the interest form. Contact bethany@association.drupal.org with questions.
Volunteer Requirements
- Excitement for creating welcoming, community-driven events
- Willingness to work from a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens
- Passion for bringing in and championing new speakers
- Recusal from reviewing own session proposals
Chairs
With support from Drupal Association staff and other volunteers, Program Committee chairs will use their subject matter expertise and community connections to develop and implement a vision for their assigned content track. (Worried you don’t have enough expertise? You do!) Each track will have two chairs and at least two supporting session team members. Main responsibilities include participating during regular meetings, performing session and speaker outreach, and reviewing session proposals. In gratitude for their service, chairs will receive a complimentary registration to the Minneapolis conference. Note: Chairs must have attended at least one DrupalCon to be eligible to serve.
Important: Chairs must be able to dedicate at least five hours per week during the self-paced review periods from December 9-January 1, January 6-January 19, January 22-February 3.
Chairs will meet for an hour each week July-February. During that same time, chairs will be responsible for around 50 hours of self-paced tasks, including 30 hours dedicated to session review. Additional tasks and meetings will be scheduled as needed after the session review period. Review the tentative schedule.
Session Team
The Program Committee session team will use their subject matter expertise to help curate session content for their assigned content track. (Worried you don’t have enough expertise? You do!) Review team members will focus on session review and aren’t responsible for assisting with session and speaker outreach or attending meetings that aren’t review-related (though they are welcome to attend all meetings). Through their service, session team members have the opportunity to learn more about conference program planning as well as give back to the Drupal community and contribute to the Drupal project. (Registration to the conference is not provided.)
Important: Session team members must be able to dedicate at least five hours per week during the self-paced review periods from December 9-January 1, January 6-January 19, January 22-February 3.
Session team members will join Program Committee chairs for three hour-long calls during July-February. (Team members are welcome to join additional calls should they choose.) Review the tentative schedule.
Speaker Team
The Program Committee’s speaker team members will help with speaker outreach and speaker portfolio review. Through their service, speaker team members have the opportunity to learn more about public speaking and make connections, as well as give back to the Drupal community and contribute to the Drupal project. (Registration to the conference is not provided.)
Important: Speaker team members must be able to dedicate approximately 10 hours a week during the self-paced speaker review period from December 9-January 1.
Speaker team members will join the rest of the Program Committee for three hour-long calls during July-February. (Team members are welcome to join additional calls should they choose.) During that same time, speaker team members will be responsible for around 40 hours of self-paced tasks, including 30 hours dedicated to speaker review. Review the tentative schedule.
