20,000 Hours Distributed

In 2015, I gave a talk at DrupalCon Barcelona titled “10,000 Hours Distributed, why being remote is the best way to run a team”. Since then the tools and demands on distributed teams have grown. The number of companies large and small trying to be distributed have increased and the challenges in the space continue to grow.
In the second edition of this talk, I’ll briefly touch on the points and tools I mentioned two years ago in Barcelona and then focus on new lessons learned in the ever changing world we live in.
This session will cover the following:
- The geopolitics of being distributed.
- How a co-located company can start to move to the distributed model.
- What culture looks like for a distributed team.
- Ways to reduce isolation for team members.
- How trust may be the most important KPI you track.
