Travel Information

Baltimore is a well-connected city on the East Coast of the United States.  It will be accessible by planes, trains, and automobiles alike.

Arriving by Plane

Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Airport is the closet and most convenient option for arriving attendees.  To get from the airport to the hotels/Convention Center, there are multiple cost-effective options:

  • Light Rail (Cost = approximately $1.70 one-way) Board the light rail at Terminal E of the airport and ride for eleven stops until you reach the Convention Center stop. All DrupalCon hotels are located within walking distance of the Convention Center stop.  Please note that the Light Rail does not run at all hours, so please check the schedule before arriving.  If you have arrived and want to know when the next train will arrive, you can check on their live tracker
  • Shuttle Van (Cost = approximately $23 one-way) If you are planning on arriving with a lot of luggage or after Light Rail's operating hours, you can pre-schedle a shuttle van to take you into the city.  This is great for groups looking to share the cost.  Shared-ride vans will be a bit cheaper than a taxi.
  • Taxi (Cost = approximately $35) The taxi stand is located just outside of the baggage claim area of the Lower Level of the BWI.  You can check approximate rates and additional information here.
  • The BWI Transportation page also offers additional options on getting to and from the airport.

Trains

Baltimore is well-connected to other major East Coast cities along the Amtrak line.  You can check train schedules on Amtrak's website. The MARC system also serves the Washington DC and Virginia area.

DRIVING

Baltimore is easily accessible and the Convention Center and hosted Hotels are located near the freeway.  Check out driving directions here to make your trip smooth. To park your car, check out Parking Panda to make an online reservation and park your car.

Uber and Lyft both operate in Baltimore and are an easy to way to get around.
