Designing for a CMS

lesleyguthrie

Please give us a detailed overview of your session and why attendees will be excited to hear about it.

Designing for a Content Management System (CMS) is a unique design challenge. Compared to designing for static content (print or web), designing for a CMS is an entirely different discipline: It requires the designer to think about the system as a whole using a “big-picture” approach. In order for the CMS to be used as a tool to grow business and reach new customers, the designer must also showcase a deep understanding of the site’s external users, as well as the needs of the site administrators and content editors. It demands planning, flexibility, and future-proofing with outputs that are judged not just on how the design looks, but how it adapts in a dynamic context.

If you’re on a design team that works with any engineers or implementation teams, it’s crucial to identify a common language that all team members are speaking in order to execute an exceptional product. Join Lesley Guthrie of HS2 Solutions to gain insight and share lessons learned on how to effectively design creatively for a CMS in a dynamic environment.
