The Engine Room of Digital Transformation: Drupal in Government in the 21st Century

xtfer

What if I told you Drupal could save the world?

Everywhere you go, in every legislature, bureaucracy and front-line government agency, people are talking about “Digital Transformation”, the reorientation of government services to digitally-driven, citizen-centric delivery.  Yet, this is proving a significant challenge. Every level of government in every jurisdiction is trying to do this on their own – this is plainly not achievable.

However, there is cause for optimism. Increasingly, we are seeing Drupal emerge as the platform of choice for Government. This offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to place the open source ethic at the heart of the public sector, across the world.

This session recaps the argument for Drupal in the public sector, reviews some of the outcomes and lessons learned from projects around the globe, and sets an agenda for furthering this aim through Drupal 8 and beyond.

Christopher Skene is known globally for his work with Drupal in the public sector. He was instrumental in establishing the conditions for the Australian Governments official adoption of Drupal and became lead architect on the original govCMS project, founded the global DrupalGov initiative, and advises governments around the world on how to implement Drupal. He currently represents Platform.sh in Asia.
