The Essence of Agile - look beyond the hype.

Introduction:

In Feb 2001, the Manifesto for Agile Software Development emerged. Soon it became the next big thing in the industry and everybody was talking about it. The Agile movement is spreading like wildfire in the industry. Most of the companies have adopted Agile and those who are left are in process of adopting it. It's like a trend, all of them wanting to go for cool & new things and not wanting to look left behind. But now we are looking at a backlash against agile. If Agile is so good, why do we still battle with deadlines? why do we end up with badly managed projects with a bulk of technical debts?

Before diving into this world we need to make sure that we understand the origin of Agile and the values that it is driven by, so that we can take our leap of faith. This session would focus on key insights on why Agile Software development manifesto formed, what are the values that drive it, and how is it getting deviated from the path it was actually developed for.

We will also discuss different flavors of Agile (Kanban and Scrum). We will discuss how both are different and which one is best based on your context. How can we change our view to handle customers and shift from negotiation to collaboration?
