The Future of Accessibility in Core...

We've accomplished a lot with accessibility in Drupal 7 & Drupal 8. Drupal remains the most accessible enterprise CMS that is out there. WordPress is catching up quickly, but more importantly the ecosystem is changing.

Drupal 8 has had some big challenges with Inline Form Errors. I'm hopeful that this will stay in Core, but it was also a difficult jump that wasn't easy for the community.

Looking ahead to issues like automated testing, autofocus behaviors, ATAG 2.0 integration, updates to WCAG 2.1, HTML5 (and eventually HTML6), we should take an opportunity to talk about some of the challenges and talk about strategies/goals outside of the issue queue.

We need better strategies to deal with our Proudly Found Elsewhere ecosystem as well as our our Experimental modules.

This session is intended to be a focused discussion, but could be structured as a panel or presentation if that is easier. As a community we just need to step back and take a look at the forest for a bit rather than just the trees.
