What is HCI?
Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is the study of how people interact with computers and to what extent. This field evaluates whether the computers have been able to successfully interact with humans and convey the desired message while receiving the response in the same context.
Humans interact with computers in many ways:
- Graphical User Interface (GUI) e.g. Desktop Application, Web Browsers, Computer Kiosk etc.
- Voice User Interface (VUI) e.g. Speech Recognition & Synthesising Systems.
Why we are talking about HCI?
We are building a Drupal 8 application which can monitor heart beat (pulse rate), which can be expanded to build for a real time healthcare application.
What is needed to build an HCI Drupal 8 application?
- We are building an application using
- Raspberry Pi 2
- Heartbeat Sensor
- Display Screen
What we will discuss:
- HCI basic Introduction.
- What is Raspberry Pi (RPI)?
- Why Raspberry Pi is useful?
- Basic setup of RPI & OS installation
- Basic demo of RPI.
- Basic demo using heart beat sensor : (video)
- Setup hardware, connecting sensor to raspberry PI.
- Future implementations
- Wifi sensor and measure the pulse rate periodically
- Send alarm notifications in case of any discrepancy with heart rate
