Make content while you sleep: automatic data imports using the Feeds module
brianbrarian
The Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) uses Feeds and dependent modules to update our sites with data from a variety of sources, including an external SQL database, Active Directory records, email, and the New York Times' Books API. The "periodic import" option in Feeds allows hands-free maintenance of imported site content.
Using the NYT book data as an example, this session will give site builders who understand content types and fields an overview of Feeds creation:
- Planning your imported content
- Adding a new Feeds importer
- Configuring the parser and mapping source data to node fields
- Testing and scheduling the data import
