Making the most out of Layouts in Drupal 8

There are many ways to display your content in Drupal. With Drupal 8 we have even more options. From Display suite to Panels, Page manager to Panelizer, we will discuss some of the current best practices when it comes to future-proofing* your Drupal 8 site.

This session is geared towards those both starting out and those with prior experience building Drupal 7 and 8 sites. This session will explain many of the common scenarios different core and contrib modules should and should not be used.

Modules being looked at:

  • Layout Plugin
  • Panels
  • Page Manager
  • Panelizer
  • Display Suite
  • Paragraphs

The last part of the session will cover a high-level overview of where core and contrib is going, and how you can setup your site for a painless upgrade path

At the end of this session, viewers should have a good understanding of how each of these modules work, which is best for various use cases, and where they can contribute to the effort to make layouts better.
