Drupal is capable of incredible things when it comes to administrator tools and interfaces, and an understanding of what it can do in this area can be a major selling point of Drupal. By focusing on a thoughtful administrator experience, we are able to give our clients freedom to edit just about any content in a structured manner, unlocking the ability do things that would otherwise require the assistance of a developer. The right admin build gives powerful flexibility without letting the client hang themselves.

Building a good admin experience will not only help you sell Drupal on a project-by-project basis, but it is also essential for Drupal’s continued viability and growth in the competitive CMS landscape. Poor admin interfaces can not only frustrate your clients and make their expensive investment less usable, it can tarnish the good name of Drupal and hurt the community as a whole, making it more difficult to go up against proprietary titans in the industry like SiteCore and Adobe. We all have a responsibility for good authoring experience as a business doing Drupal development in order to make Drupal an even more competitive enterprise option.

In this session we will discuss the power of componentized Drupal, our responsibility as members of the Drupal community to make robust and intuitive editing experiences, and how we were able to put a prospect in the driver’s seat to sell Drupal’s admin experience, and get the prospect to say “this is my dream!”, ultimately closing the deal as a result.
