Wonder in the Wireframe: Learn to Tap Into Curiosity and Improve Your UX Work

“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” - Albert Einstein

Curiosity is a wanted man. Sometimes elusive in the workplace, yet always present in our daily lives as human beings. What would our work look like if we could approach it with the same curiosity as we do our personal passions and interests?

Much different, I bet.

The practice of User Experience design requires a consistently refreshing philosophy of how best to meet user needs, capture accurate technical requirements, and design web products that will grow with those using them. However, UX designers often face some monotony in how we solve the problems of the forever-mystical user. After a while, web products begin to look the same: the infamous card-style grid, the flexible filters, the pithy calls to action, the follow buttons. How do we fight the man? How do we fight the monotony?

User Experience design is a field where curiosity (perhaps right behind content) should be king. This presentation will introduce the proven benefits of implementing a curiosity-based approach to developing information architecture, strategy documents, wireframes and prototypes, and all other UX materials. You will leave empowered with a method of growing your professional curiosity, a knowledge of the benefits of doing so, and most importantly, a starting point. All levels of knowledge are welcome: from beginner to expert to developer to project manager.

In a field of uncertainty, curiosity will remain the only constant in producing valuable UX work. Approaching technically complex web products with the inquisitiveness of a child, or a cat, or even your inner dreamer will not only improve your creative output - it will improve your life.

Join me on a journey into the heart of inquisitiveness.
