WordPress for Drupalistas

WordPress is very similar to Drupal. It’s an Open Source LAMP stack CMS with a large ecosystem of contributed code and themes, a Rest API, and a Command Line Interface. It has a large VC-backed company that employs its founder and is active in core development, roadmap planning and more.

WordPress is very different than Drupal. It has a long-term commitment to non breaking changes and backwards compatibility. It powers a huge chunk of the web that skews towards smaller sites. WordPress users regularly purchase WordPress plugins and themes.

Come to this session to understand more of the inner workings of WordPress, what the WordPress ecosystem looks like, where WordPress thinks the future is headed and what it looks like to work in the professional WordPress space alongside with Drupal. Ultimately, the success of Drupal, WordPress and the many professionals who work with both are tied to the success of the Open Web. As such, understanding our common ground and our differences is an asset for anyone working in this space.
