The Drupal Association prioritizes uplifting the voices and experiences of historically oppressed people around the world and in our communities. The 2019 Driesnote talks a bit about the diversity challenge in open source (starting around 31 minutes). We know, based on participation at events, other programs, and high-level data collection around the Project, that Drupal follows the same data trends.
Historically oppressed communities are defined as those who have experienced and continue to experience harm because of global systems of oppression.
We acknowledge the framework of intersectionality, which highlights that marginalized people are often affected by many areas of oppression simultaneously, often co-impacting.

The Drupal Association is happy to offer community grants that include the following:
- $500 travel stipend
- One (1) free general admission ticket
Community grants are designed to provide key Drupal community members the opportunity to attend DrupalCon North America who would not be able to otherwise. Priority is given to non-U.S. based contributors who are otherwise not financially supported in attending global Drupal events. Additionally, priority is given to those involved in initiatives, such as Event Organizers Working Group, Community Working Group, Contribution Mentors, Drupal Strategic Initiatives, Promote Drupal Initiative, and any other high-impact Drupal community contribution role.
