Building A Better Authoring Experience
Building A Better Authoring Experience
The authors who enter content into our websites are a crucial part of our ecosystem who have often taken a back seat to other needs like splashy designs or improvements for developers. This is a lost opportunity because if those content editors despise their experience in a CMS, then they will not create content with the craft and care it deserves. This is bad for them as people and its bad business for your organization. Drupal has made great strides in improving the authoring experience, but there is still a lot of work to do.
In this session I discuss what it takes to build a better authoring experience for our users. Yes, there will be modules you can install, settings you can change, and bugs that need to be fixed. However, we will also talk about how content authors are not a monolith. Different authors at different organizations have different needs, and understanding those use cases and matching them to the tools at hand is a huge part of making sure we deliver functionality that meets the needs of a site's users, both internal and external.
