Building a reimagined e-commerce platform for independent booksellers using Drupal
Building a reimagined e-commerce platform for independent booksellers using Drupal
The American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.
IndieCommerce™ is the American Booksellers Association’s (ABA) e-commerce platform. The system provides the tools for indie bookstores to create unique, content-rich, and easy-to-operate, fully transactional, e-commerce enabled websites.
Originally launched using Drupal in 2009, the IndieCommerce platform supports over 400 independent bookseller websites.
In 2020 an unexpected huge increase in online traffic and sales during the pandemic highlighted the need for a more modern, scalable, accessible and customizable platform.
ABA worked with Lullabot to reimagine and redevelop a new IndieCommerce platform powered by Drupal 9/10 that their current members can migrate to, make money from and love to use!
In this session, you will hear from both sides of the table as we discuss the lessons we learned, the technology we used and the moments we shared while developing "IndieCommerce 2.0".
