How Drupal powers the global UN Refugee Agency fundraising platform

How Drupal powers the global UN Refugee Agency fundraising platform

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency provides protection and assistance to forcibly displaced people worldwide. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people.

UNHCR had scattered online donations campaign pages across multiple markets globally, and they needed to build one web platform that supports online fundraising in more than 20 global markets with a centralized admin experience. Vardot worked with UNHCR to build the platform where today, UNHCR uses a Drupal-based donations platform, utilizing a powerful suite of modules and services used to achieve these objectives of speed and versatility with a multinational application including Drupal Commerce and Layout Builder.

In this session, we'd like to showcase the complex platform and the success story including:
- Architecture of the centralized donation platform serving 9 countries, 4 regions, 56 currencies, and 10 languages
- How the platform supports a global team of admins
- Performance optimizations we managed so the platform can process $11.5 million in donations just under 12 months after launch
- Lessons learned executing the project
