What is the best way to prepare for a world mediated by Artificial Intelligence? What are the threats and opportunities for the Open Web? How can we position Drupal as a leader in AI readiness and the Open Interface Web?

When the generative AI hype wave broke in 2023, tens of thousands of AI programs launched. Most of these programs were following the architectural patterns of traditional software systems: attempting to either build an application that is augmented with AI, or an extension that augments an existing centralised AI platform (like ChatGPT). But is playing with LLMs the only way to prepare your organisation for AI?

In this talk I will explain why I believe that:
- We are at a new inflection point for a more open or closed Web.
- The true opportunity is not about token sets or ChatGPT extensions.
- In a world where people consume the web through LLMs, the frontier of the Open Web will shift towards publicly declared interfaces (APIs -Application Programming, AI, and human interfaces).
- Drupal sites are uniquely fit to play two key roles in the Open Interface Web: as a source of authoritative content, and as a publishing tool for interfaces.
- The combination of LLMs, authoritative content, and open interfaces can radically improve the accessibility of both public and commercial society.
- Drupal could become a leader in the Open Interface Web.
