Brilliant, But Doubting: Imposter Syndrome and the Experience of Women in Tech

Brilliant, But Doubting: Imposter Syndrome and the Experience of Women in Tech

Despite increasing participation of women in the technology sector, many continue to grapple with imposter syndrome, a psychological pattern marked by persistent self-doubt and a fear of being exposed as a fraud, despite evident competence and achievements.
This session explores the impact of imposter syndrome among women in tech. Drawing on research, lived experiences, and industry data, the session identifies the different factors that contribute to imposter syndrome and explores strategies to foster inclusive environments that support confidence, belonging, and professional growth.
By addressing imposter syndrome not as a personal failure but as a cultural and structural issue, this work aims to contribute to more inclusive and psychologically safe workplaces in the tech industry.
