Dries Buytaert is the original creator and project lead for Drupal, a powerful open source platform for building websites and digital experiences. Dries is also Co-founder and Executive Chair at Acquia, the open source digital experience company.

Honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, he holds a PhD in computer science and engineering from Ghent University and a Licentiate Computer Science (MsC) from the University of Antwerp. Dries also has been recognized as CTO of the Year by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council, New England Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and a Young Innovator by MIT Technology Review.

AI technologies are evolving faster than our ability to understand them, much less control them. While these technologies have the potential to improve our quality of life across multiple sectors, it is essential to global security that governments and civil society weigh the both the costs and benefits of AI expansion. From nuclear proliferation to the environment to public health to the global economy, AI can bring hope or wreak havoc. Bell will outline both the threats at hand, as well as how to manage or mitigate those threats.
