It's been 13 years since the original call to "get off the island" went out. Since then the web has grown and changed quite a lot, yet DrupalCon remains a sea of familiar faces. Community is a comfort, and there’s much to celebrate on this 25th anniversary, but for this project to thrive it must tap new sources of energy.

Much of the thinking in this community is informed by hard-won experience, but also biased towards the past. The web is being ripped apart and put back together in real time, but the rate of adoption of Drupal is basically flat. The time is now to question everything.

What if the solution isn't putting more into Drupal, but putting Drupal into more things? Instead of importing more features to Drupal Island, what would it take to get out there and build connections, bridges, and conduits to other sources of innovation?

In this provocative presentation, Pantheon Co-Founder and Drupal user number 3,133 Josh Koenig will present market data on the state of the Web, AI’s impacts on our profession, and lay out a what he sees as the best path for Drupal practitioners to chart their course forward for themselves, and for their organizations.
