Stop building AI features

Stop building AI features

Every CMS and web tool is racing to add AI content generation, AI image editing, AI assistants. It makes sense — and demos look great! But this approach has a ceiling. We will never out-build the frontier model providers, and the features we ship today will feel outdated in six months.

There's a different strategy that plays to open source strengths, and it has nothing to do with building AI features your users interact with directly. It's about what happens when AI agents — not humans — become the primary way people create, manage, and transact on the web.

This talk makes the case that the most important AI investment for open source CMSs isn't the features you ship. It's the infrastructure you expose. We'll look at what an agent-ready platform looks like, why open source has a structural advantage over closed SaaS and one-shot apps in this shift, and what changes when you stop thinking about AI as a feature and start thinking about it as your audience.
