Today the European Commission runs one of the largest Drupal platforms in the world. In the beginning it was adoption without contribution. Each institution tried to implement similar solutions. This talk is about what changed when we stopped trying to justify giving back to the community and started building in a way where contribution is what comes out the other end. Shared modules, common governance, and a platform designed so that doing the work well and doing open source are the same thing.
