Session Proposal FAQ

Where can I submit my session proposal?

This year, session submissions will be handled through Sessionize.
Please use the link to submit your session proposal.

Is there a deadline for proposal submissions?

The deadline for session submissions is 13 April 2026 23:59 CEST.

No deadline extensions will be granted, so ensure your proposal is submitted before this date.

Can I edit my proposal after submission?

Yes. Once submitted, proposals can be edited until the submission deadline.

How will proposals be evaluated?

DrupalCon Europe is an international event, and as such, we are interested in experienced speakers from other events, local meetups, previous DrupalCons, etc. If you have not spoken at a DrupalCon event before, that is also great, and you are welcome to apply.

Proposals are selected through a total of three rounds:

  • Round 1: Anonymous review, where the review team does not know the personal details of the presenter.
  • Round 2: A review in which we evaluate the presenters, their prior speaking experience, and the quality of their presentation. If we cannot find information about you as a speaker, it will help if you provide us with links.
  • Round 3: From those ranked and selected by the track teams, the Track Leads assign speaking timeslots and balance the topics. For example, if many session proposals focus on AI for a specific use case, only 1-2 of those sessions will be accepted so that we can also address similar topics from a non-AI perspective. We are looking for a healthy balance of topics.
Who will evaluate my proposal?

The Track Team reviews the session proposals and selects the sessions.

When will I know if my proposal has been accepted?

25 May 2026: Selected session announcements will be sent to speakers via email.

What happens if my proposal is accepted?

You will be allocated a slot in the DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026 program to present your session.

You will receive a free conference ticket and be promoted as a Drupal speaker.

What happens if my proposal is rejected?

Your session was not selected for this year’s program.

You are welcome to propose a BoF (Birds of a Feather) session.

What happens if my proposal is on the waiting list?

Your proposal is on the waiting list and may be included in the program if a spot becomes available.

A session slot may open if a confirmed speaker cancels or cannot attend.

If selected, you will receive a complimentary speaker registration. If you have already purchased a ticket, you will be refunded.

Can I submit more than one proposal?

Yes. You may submit multiple proposals. Submitting too many will indicate that you are not serious about a single topic. Ideally, you can submit 2-3 proposals. As a rule, we only accept one session proposal for a primary speaker. You can, however, be a secondary presenter for a second talk. In most cases, 2 accepted talks is the limit.

Will I receive feedback if my proposal is not accepted?

Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to provide individualized feedback for proposals that are not accepted. Each submission is carefully reviewed as part of a competitive selection process.

While we can’t offer detailed responses, we deeply value the effort and thought behind every session proposal. We also encourage you to use the resources available to improve your proposal and to submit next year. There are several regional events that are also good opportunities.

What if I need to cancel my session after acceptance?

If unable to attend, contact us at drupal@kuonitumlare.com  as soon as possible so adjustments can be made.

Note: Failure to confirm participation by the specified deadline will result in your session being withdrawn and the slot reallocated.

Can I have multiple colleagues speak with me?

Yes, co-speakers can be indicated during the session proposal submission.

Do I have to pay for my conference registration?

No, if you are selected as a speaker. If you have already paid, your registration fee will be refunded.

How can I make my submission stand out so it has a better chance of being accepted?

A well-structured proposal is the key to being accepted. Have peers review your proposal prior to submitting. Many speakers take classes, use online resources, or review old proposals to improve their writing and presenting. It also helps to speak at local and regional events.

A word of advice: you are marketing yourself as a speaker, but find a good balance and remain authentic.

Can I view sessions from previous DrupalCon conferences?

Yes, visit the official websites for previous conferences like DrupalCon Vienna 2025, DrupalCon Barcelona 2024, DrupalCon Lille 2023.

Session recordings are available on the Drupal Association YouTube channel.
