Thank you to everyone who submitted a design and shared their creativity with the community, and to everyone who took part in the voting. The five finalist designs showed the imagination and community spirit that make DrupalCon so special.
The conversation at DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026 won't just be about what Drupal CMS 2.x can do — it will be about how teams are actually getting there. Migration is the real-world bridge between the platform you have today and the Recipe-driven, Canvas-powered experience covered in Post #1 of this series.
At DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026, AI takes its place at the heart of how modern Drupal platforms are built, integrated, and scaled. The Development, AI & Agentic Architecture track puts that front and centre—focusing on complex architectures, automation, and intelligent systems in real-world environments.
This is not about hype. It’s about what’s already changing.
Digital sovereignty often sounds abstract but, in practice, it comes down to technical decisions: where data is stored, who controls the platform, how systems are maintained over time, and how much privacy, transparency, and independence is built in from the start.
DrupalCon Europe 2026 Rotterdam — Technical Blog Series | Post #1 of 10
Published as part of the "Drupal in Rotterdam" technical series ahead of DrupalCon Europe 2026, taking place 28 September – 1 October at Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre WTC Rotterdam.
DrupalCon Rotterdam is one of those events that naturally attracts attention across the Drupal ecosystem. Not only because it brings the community together, but because it creates a space where technology, strategy, contribution and real-world digital projects meet.
For anyone working with Drupal, open source or digital experience platforms, the question is not just “what happens at DrupalCon?”, but it might be: “If you have never been before, why should this be the year to go?”
Good news for everyone still polishing their entry, we've extended the submission deadline for the International Splash Awards 2026 by four weeks. You now have until 16 July 2026 to submit your project.
As part of our commitment to a fair process, we want to give every Drupal community and agency ample time to put their best work forward. So we're opening the doors wider rather than closing them.
As DrupalCon continues to evolve, so does our responsibility to understand and reduce the impact of the events we create.
Great digital experiences don’t exist in isolation. They are shaped not only by the technology we build and the communities we nurture, but also by the environmental footprint we leave behind.
Are you a Drupal enthusiast who’s ever thought, “I’m not expert enough to speak at DrupalCon”? You’re not alone. Imposter syndrome can affect even the most experienced developers, designers, and site builders. But here’s the truth: real-world experience matters far more than textbook expertise. Your lessons learned, project insights, and practical workflows are exactly what the community wants to hear.
