To meet our clients' need for an easily manageable design system approach, we, at Smile, developed the Streamlined CMS platform, based on Drupal, and funded by our R&D investments. In addition to the design system approach, we wanted to give our Streamlined CMS platform a No-Code approach. This approach leverages Drupal's capabilities in terms of site building (site creation through back-office configuration) to the fullest. These features, driven by core modules such as Views or Layout Builder, are enhanced by modules from the UI Suite initiative, which originated within Smile and is now supported by several members of the Drupal community. UI Suite is a community initiative that aims to provide full Design systems integration inside Drupal architecture. It is designed to target Site builder and Back/Front developer experiences in mind. We’ll focus here on developers. Since DrupalCon Prague 2022, the UI Suite ecosystem has gained in maturity and lots of discussions happened about the best ways to integrate a Design system in Drupal. From this emerges Best practices. Today, we are glad to unveil our first stable version at Drupalcon Lille! During this session we are going to present the challenges we overcomed during more than one year of effort, contributing to the UI Suite modules. Then we are going to conclude with a short demo, illustrating our two main goals: to enable non-technical contributors to build complex landing pages from pre-configured blocks while strictly adhering to the site's design system and to enpower experienced and trained site builders creating new content types used to generate sets of pages that follow the same model.
