Building Production-Ready AI Applications Using Curated Drupal Recipes

Building Production-Ready AI Applications Using Curated Drupal Recipes

Dr. Christoph Breidert (Breidert)

Move your Drupal projects from AI experimentation to enterprise-ready implementation. This workshop provides hands-on experience deploying secure, agentic AI features and automated content workflows using curated, official tools.

Prerequisite

Attendees should be familiar with Drupal site building (content types, fields) and basic DDEV/Composer usage. No programming experience is required; this workshop is strictly focused on applying and configuring existing functionality.

Target Audience

Site builders, developers, and digital strategists who want to implement reliable, curated AI features in real-world Drupal projects.

Outline

Transform your Drupal projects into intelligent applications using curated tools from the Drupal AI Initiative. This hands-on workshop focuses on applying ready-to-use Drupal recipes, not writing custom code. We use Drupal CMS as our pre-configured foundation, though every recipe easily applies to your existing sites.

You will follow a professional workflow to implement enterprise-grade AI. We begin with the foundation: installing the AI module, configuring providers, and setting up context management for highly relevant results. Next, we secure operations by implementing AI Guardrails to protect PII, establishing AI Observability, and exploring Drupal AI's built-in debugging tools.

With governance in place, we deploy autonomous capabilities. You will configure AI Content Reviews to flag brand/SEO issues, integrate native AI assistants, and build semantic search. Finally, we configure Drupal as a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing external agents to securely read information and push content changes back to the CMS in an auditable way.

Session Outline:

Foundation: Drupal CMS setup, AI providers, and context management.

Governance: Guardrails (PII protection), Observability, and debugging tools.

Assistants: AI Content Reviews, QA automation, and native AI tools.

Search: RAG-powered semantic search.

MCP: Bi-directional communication with external agents.

Learning Objectives

- Deploy a secure AI foundation by configuring AI providers, managing context, and implementing AI Guardrails alongside Observability and debugging tools.

- Configure AI Content Reviews and native editorial assistants to automate quality assurance—without writing custom code.

- Implement semantic search and configure Drupal as a secure MCP server to enable bi-directional, auditable interactions with external agents.
